welcoming remarks by the Raja of Perlis that “in Malaysia, every race is tuan.”

Press Statement issued by MCA Perlis Chairman Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun

MCA Perlis fully supports Raja of Perlis remarks that “in Malaysia, every race is tuan”

MCA Perlis Chairman Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun today welcomed the remarks by the Raja of Perlis DYMM Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Syed Jamalullail that “in Malaysia, every race is tuan”. Mei Fun said that “MCA Perlis fully supports the open mindedness of Tuanku, the Raja of Perlis. Tuanku’s remarks provide reassurances not only to Perlis residents, but to all Malaysians as well.”

Mei Fun accentuated that “in our nation, every Malaysia is a tuan in this country. Therefore, every citizen should enjoy an equal rights and opportunities.” Recalling that MCA’s position on equal rights and opportunities has never wavered, she took to task “people who assume themselves as superior and look down on other races as subservient - these are the people who hold personal agendas. This type of narrow-minded politicians will be rejected by the people.”

Mei Fun who is also the Wanita MCA national Chairman then urged all Malaysians to learn from the Raja of Perlis’ wisdom which fully reflects the Malaysian values of peace and mutual appreciation. “We should remove narrow-minded extremist racist views and uphold the spirit of Rakyat Malaysia, that is, all Malaysian citizens are equal irrespective of race, religion, age, gender or social status. Malaysians should move forward in building a harmonious society based on power sharing, mutual respect for each other.”

As 2009 marks the 60th anniversary of MCA’s inauguration, Mei Fun reminded that, “Since MCA formation in 1949 till today, MCA has upheld and continues to uphold the spirit of multiracial struggle with equal rights for all races as our main objective.” She highlighted MCA founding father Tun Tan Cheng Lock’s quote that “the Malayan Chinese Association motto is NOT ‘for Chinese only’ but ‘for all Malayans.’”

Reflecting on the speech by MCA President Dato’ Sri Ong Tee Keat at the party’s 60th anniversary celebrations last week, the Wanita MCA chief re-emphasized MCA’s transformation process. “MCA will be fearless in championing equal opportunities and a level playing field, not only for the Chinese community, but for all Malaysians.”

All Malaysians in Perlis are his subjects. The soothing statement of our raja brings solace and peace to the people. We salute his Royal highness for him timely rebuke to those who use "Ketuanan Melayu" for their personal agenda. It should be rightly Ketuanan Raja-Raja Melayu which is acceptable to all Malaysians without question. Daulat Tuanku. It seems there are some who try currently to use our sultans to fight off their political rivals.

MCA should be fearless in the face of injustice, humiliation and intimidation. A partnership in BN with equal status not devoid of mutual respect. MCA's stance in regards to the appointment of MCA EXCO in Perlis is a far cry of the above. MCA's choiced EXCO was delibrately turned down. To disregard MCA President's recommendation by Perlis UMNO is unprecedented , unwarranted and against BN spirit. our Party's image and honour should take precedence at all cost.
To bear the humiliation in silence is not the way. MCA should officially write in to show our displeasure and to demand an assurance that no such occurance in future and the wrong should be addressed as soon as possible.

MCA's motto is not for Chinese only but for all Malaysians.
Lok said then Wee said they want a Chinese from MCA to be appointed Dpty PM. Their thinking is rather racial against MCA's motto. They are not true Malaysians.
I say it is not necessary as Malaysians, we do not care what is the colour of our leaders. We need a PM who is colour-blind and who rules the country focusing on the grand national agenda rather than the narrow communal agenda.

abc1231Malaysia is to bring about national integration and national unity. That is the sole objective. It is the Malaysian Agenda. 1Malaysia should also means equality for all its citizens. Without this equality, 1Malaysia has no meaning. It will certainly fail in what it intend to achieve. I am not confused by what the greatest jumping frog said. Everyone wants equality.don't you.But some want to be more than equal. That is quite natural for a common man.If you are a good and god-fearing man,
you won't demand for more than equal. Am I wrong?
